Traffic tickets issued in the City of Dallas by the Dallas Police Department are processed and adjudicated at the City of Dallas Municipal Court.
Tickets issued in Dallas County by Dallas County Constables or Dallas County Sheriffs are processed and adjudicated in the Dallas Justice of the Peace Courts.
If you receive a citation from the City of Dallas, you have twenty-one days to:
o Pay your ticket
OR
o Appear in court and enter a plea.
If you pay your ticket, without contesting the charge or entering into a plea agreement, the ticket will go on your driving record as a conviction.
If you miss your appearance deadline by waiting to take action until the twenty-first day after your Dallas citation was issued, then a City of Dallas Warrant will be issued, and you will be subject to arrest not only for the underlying traffic violation but also for your Failure to Appear.
